School building collapse in Nigeria kills students at Saint’s Academy in Jos amid heavy rains, with many trapped inside.

On Friday, a devastating incident occurred in central Nigeria as a school building tragically collapsed, claiming the lives of several students who were attending classes. The country's emergency services were swiftly mobilized to respond to the emergency.
Rescue Efforts and Grim Scenes
Footage aired on Nigerian television highlighted the chaotic scenes as rescue workers and ambulances hurried to evacuate the injured. Meanwhile, bystanders and students desperately attempted to sift through the rubble of the school, known as Saint’s Academy, in Jos city. The harrowing sight of the two-story building, seemingly cleaved in half, with one part still upright and the other, including the substantial corrugated iron roof, tragically collapsed on the ground, left the community reeling.
The collapse occurred following heavy rains that had pounded Jos in the preceding days. Forecasts indicate that further thunderstorms and downpours are anticipated in the coming week, heightening concerns about additional risks to infrastructure and safety.
