Tragic Developments: Hawaii Woman Missing, Father Dies by Suicide in Los Angeles
The father of a missing Hawaii woman died by suicide while searching for his daughter in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported a tragic incident involving the father of a missing Hawaii woman. On Sunday at 4 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 6100 block of West Century Boulevard near the Los Angeles International Airport for a death investigation. The investigation revealed that Ryan Kobayashi, the father of Hannah Kobayashi, had died by suicide.
Ryan Kobayashi,, aged 58, resided in Honolulu and, along with other family members, was in Los Angeles searching for his daughter Hannah, who had arrived in Los Angeles on November 8th. Hannah was on her way to New York City but missed her connecting flight due to insufficient time to reach the departure terminal. Subsequently, she decided to explore the area while waiting for the next flight.
Concerns About Hannah's Safety
On November 10th, Hannah was recorded at a Nike event at The Grove shopping center, approximately 12 miles north of Los Angeles International Airport. However, her family received distressing text messages from her phone in the following days. The last message on November 11th expressed feelings of fear and concern about someone attempting to steal her money and identity.
On November 15th, a Facebook post by the RAD Movement, a San Diego County missing persons nonprofit, revealed security video capturing Hannah Kobayashi with an unidentified individual in downtown Los Angeles. The post raised alarms regarding her well-being, asserting, “In the footage, it is evident that Hannah does not appear to be in good condition and she is not alone.” The investigation remained active, with further details withheld for privacy concerns.
Pidgeon, a family representative, emphasized the belief, based on video surveillance, that Hannah was in a precarious situation. However, due to the sensitive nature of the investigation, the family refrained from discussing specific details to avoid hindering the authorities' efforts. A Los Angeles police spokesperson confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and no further information was available at that time.
