Aurora, Colorado authorities are currently investigating a heartbreaking incident where a man lost his life while attempting to intervene in an alleged theft from his property. The shooting occurred in the Del Mar Park neighborhood on Paris Street at approximately 4:39 a.m. local time on Wednesday. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement discovered an individual, aged 49, inside a residence with a gunshot wound. Despite efforts by police and emergency responders to save him, the unidentified man succumbed to his injuries. According to the police report, the man and his son were alerted to the presence of two individuals allegedly stealing scooters from their backyard. Confronting the suspects, the thieves fled on the scooters, prompting the father and son to give chase in a pickup truck. During the pursuit, gunshots were fired at their vehicle. Returning home, the family experienced another harrowing moment as an unidentified vehicle drove past their house, firing multiple gunshots that tragically struck the father. As the investigation unfolds, authorities have identified multiple locations in the neighborhood where the stolen scooters were recovered. While the suspects have not been identified, law enforcement reassures the public that there is no immediate danger to their safety.
