In a tragic incident, a violent storm off the coast of Sicily claimed the lives of seven individuals when a superyacht, carrying British software mogul Mike Lynch, his family, associates, and others, sank on Monday. The yacht had 22 people on board, 15 of whom were rescued.
The bodies of Mr. Lynch and two other notable figures — Christopher J. Morvillo, a leading white-collar defense lawyer, and Jonathan Bloomer, the chairman of Morgan Stanley International — were among those recovered. The unfortunate incident also claimed the lives of Mr. Lynch’s 18-year-old daughter, Hannah Lynch, Mr. Morvillo’s wife, Neda Morvillo, and Mr. Bloomer’s wife, Judy Bloomer. The body of the ship’s cook, Recaldo Thomas, was also recovered.
