The video shows the truck driver narrowly escaping from the tractor trailer's cab just moments before the train crashed into it, highlighting the fortunate escape by the driver.
Witness Account
Zack Hatcher, who was behind the stalled semi-truck, recorded the entire event. The video captures the sound of the train's horns, flashing lights, and bells at the railroad crossing, culminating in the loud impact as the train collides with the truck. Hatcher's concern for the driver's safety is evident as he is heard asking, "You alright, man?"
Following the collision, the truck's load was scattered in the vicinity of the train tracks, emphasizing the force of the impact. The train came to a halt on the tracks after the crash, and local authorities arrived at the scene.
Authorities' Statements
The City of Emerson Police Department's Lisa Fuller stated that both the engineer and conductor of the train reported seeing the truck stopped on the tracks. Despite their efforts to brake upon spotting the truck, they were unable to stop in time to prevent the collision.
