Trump Accuses Harris of Copying His Tax Exempt Tips Proposal, Calls Her a Flip-Flopper

Donald Trump criticized Kamala Harris for allegedly copying his proposal to exempt tips from taxes, calling her a "copycat" and "flip-flopper."

Former President Donald J. Trump expressed frustration over a shared proposal with Vice President Kamala Harris regarding exempting tips from taxes during a recent rally at a Las Vegas restaurant. He accused Ms. Harris of copying his idea and labeled her as an opportunist trying to win over service industry workers.

Trump's Accusations

Mr. Trump made his feelings known to his supporters, calling Ms. Harris a "copycat" and a "flip-flopper." He claimed that she had changed her positions rapidly, stating, "She went from communism to capitalism in about two weeks." These comments come in the wake of Ms. Harris's recent announcement during her own visit to Las Vegas, where she expressed her intention to eliminate federal income taxes on tips if elected.

Proposal Origin and Support

The idea of exempting tips from federal income taxes was first proposed by Mr. Trump in June and quickly gained bipartisan backing. Despite the lack of comment from a Harris campaign spokesman, the public discourse surrounding this shared policy proposal has intensified.
