Trump Administration Faces Legal Challenge Over Information Requests Related to FBI Employees and Data Removal
The Trump administration is facing lawsuits regarding FBI employees involved in Trump-related cases and federal health agency data removal.

On Tuesday, the Trump administration faced legal challenges as two separate civil complaints were filed, targeting a request for information regarding FBI employees involved in cases related to President Donald Trump and the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, as well as the removal of data from federal health agency websites.
Legal Action Against Information Requests
The lawsuits mark a continuation of the mounting legal efforts aimed at hindering the swift actions undertaken by Trump and his associates since his inauguration on January 20. The complaints were lodged in the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C.
Class-Action Suit by FBI Agents
The first lawsuit, classified as a class-action complaint, was initiated by a coalition of nine unidentified current and former FBI agents, along with employees of the agency, against the Department of Justice. This particular suit seeks to restrain the publication or dissemination of information contained in surveys mandated for the plaintiffs and their supervisors, aimed at identifying "their specific role" in cases pertaining to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot criminal cases and the criminal prosecution of Trump for retaining classified records post-his White House tenure in early 2021.
Allegations in the Lawsuit
The lawsuit asserts that the issuance of the survey is intended "to identify agents to be terminated or to suffer adverse employment action." It further claims that upon assuming the Presidency, President Trump has directed the Department of Justice to conduct a review and purge of FBI personnel involved in these investigations and prosecutions. This directive is characterized as unlawful, retaliatory, and in violation of the Civil Service Reform Act.
Concerns for FBI Agents' Safety
Additionally, the lawsuit expresses concern that the information pertaining to FBI agents involved in the Jan. 6 and Trump cases might be made public by allies of President Trump, thereby exposing the agents and their families to potential danger from individuals convicted of Jan. 6-related felonies who have been pardoned and are currently at large.
Ongoing Developments
As these legal proceedings unfold, the situation remains fluid, and further updates are expected to provide insight into the ongoing challenges faced by the Trump administration.
