Trump-Appointed Head Plans Christmas Celebration of Christ at Kennedy Center
The Kennedy Center will host a large celebration of Christ's birth at Christmas under President Trump's administration.

Just one week after President Trump took control of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, his administration is already laying out plans to reshape the institution's programming. A key focus is a planned celebration of Christ in December.
Richard Grenell, appointed by Mr. Trump as the Kennedy Center's new president, announced this "big change" at a conservative gathering on Friday. He stated that the center would host a large-scale production celebrating the birth of Christ during Christmas. Grenell questioned the absurdity of not celebrating Christ during Christmas, emphasizing the global celebration of his birth.
Previous Christmas Events at the Kennedy Center
The Kennedy Center has a history of hosting Christmas-themed events. Last December, the center featured various performances such as "A Candlelight Christmas" by the Washington Chorus, "A Family Christmas" by the Choral Arts Society of Washington, and "Go Tell It," a Christmas celebration by the Alfred Street Baptist Church in Virginia.
However, this year, the Alfred Street Baptist Church announced its decision to cancel its Christmas concert at the Kennedy Center. The church cited the new leadership's opposition to "the longstanding tradition of honoring artistic expression across all backgrounds" as the reason for their cancellation.
