Trump Criticized for Posting Video with Hog-Tied Image of President Biden on Truck
Donald Trump faced backlash for sharing a video depicting a tied-up Joe Biden on a truck. Both camps condemned the portrayal.
On a recent Friday, March 29, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump faced criticism due to a video that was posted on social media. The video depicted the image of a hog-tied President Joe Biden on the tailgate of a passing truck, sparking swift condemnation from the Biden campaign.
Biden Campaign's Reaction
The Biden campaign was quick to condemn the video, asserting that it insinuated physical harm to the sitting Democratic president. They highlighted Biden's portrayal of Trump as someone who evokes Nazi imagery concerning immigrants and emphasized Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election results, ultimately leading to the assault on the U.S. Capitol.
"Trump is regularly inciting political violence and it’s time people take him seriously — just ask the Capitol police officers who were attacked protecting our democracy on January 6," said Michael Tyler, the Biden campaign's communications director.
Trump Campaign's Response
In response, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung defended the video, stating that the image was on the back of a pickup truck traveling down the highway. He also pointed out that there have been calls for violence against President Trump and his family from Democrats and what he referred to as "crazed lunatics."
U.S. Secret Service Statement
The U.S. Secret Service released a statement declining to confirm or comment on matters of protective intelligence, refraining from further involvement in the controversy.
The video was posted on Trump's social media site, Truth Social, with a caption indicating that it was taken in Long Island, New York. It was recorded during the former president's attendance at the wake of a New York City police officer who was killed during a traffic stop. The passing truck in the video was adorned with "Trump 2024" and flags expressing support for the police, featuring the image of a seemingly helpless Biden with his hands and feet tied painted on the rear of the vehicle.

Seeking a return to the White House, Trump has painted an apocalyptic scenario for the country if Biden secures a second term. He warned about potential dire consequences, using strong language to convey his concerns.
“If I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole — that’s going to be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country,” he warned at an Ohio rally earlier this month.
Trump has also made controversial statements about immigrants and the impact of offshoring on the country’s auto industry, using rhetoric that echoes that of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. He has referred to his enemies as “vermin,” a choice of language that his opponents argue reflects his authoritarian beliefs.
Trump's Rhetoric Against Biden
At one recent rally, Trump accused Biden's handling of the border as part of "a conspiracy to overthrow the United States of America," adding further fuel to the ongoing political tension.
It is worth noting that in the past, Trump has engaged in controversial behavior, such as posting a photo on social media holding a baseball bat next to a picture of District Attorney Alvin Bragg, prior to his indictment in New York over hush money paid on his behalf during his 2016 campaign.
Biden's Response to Trump
Former President Biden has also engaged in verbal sparring with Trump, expressing his disgust over lewd comments made by Trump about women. In a 2018 speech, Biden conveyed a willingness to engage in physical confrontation with the then-president, reflecting the intense political rivalry between the two figures.
“If we were in high school, I’d take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him,” Biden said at the time, adding that any man who disrespected women was “usually the fattest, ugliest SOB in the room.”
