The former President, Donald Trump, has chosen to participate in a Fox News town hall rather than CNN's GOP primary debate, which is scheduled for the same time. The town hall is set to take place on Jan. 10 in Des Moines, Iowa, and will be moderated by Fox anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. At present, only Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley have qualified and agreed to participate in CNN’s Iowa debate. Trump has consistently chosen to bypass GOP primary debates, often organizing his own events instead. In a similar instance in August, he opted out of a debate hosted by Baier and MacCallum to have an interview with former Fox host Tucker Carlson. A campaign advisor indicated that Trump is also likely to skip CNN’s debate in New Hampshire later this month. The former president, who is currently leading in the polls, mentioned in an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt that he would only consider debating another Republican candidate if the race was very close.
