Trump Walks Back Gaza Relocation Plan Amid Regional Resistance

President Donald Trump appeared to retract his controversial proposal regarding the Gaza Strip on Friday, following resistance from regional leaders.

Earlier this month, Trump expressed his desire for the United States to assume control of Gaza and relocate approximately two million Palestinians to neighboring countries in the Middle East. He envisioned transforming the territory into "the Riviera of the Middle East." Despite facing staunch opposition, including rebukes from Egyptian and Jordanian leaders, Trump remained insistent.

During a phone interview with a Fox News host on Friday, Trump acknowledged that his attempts to persuade Egypt and Jordan to accept the displaced Palestinians had been unsuccessful. He conceded that their refusal rendered his plan unfeasible.

"They say they're not going to accept," Trump stated earlier. "I say they will."

This apparent shift in stance marks a departure from Trump's previous unwavering confidence in his ability to sway regional leaders. His initial proposal, which suggested the forceful displacement of Palestinians, had drawn widespread criticism.
