
Two family members arrested in connection with brutal stabbing death in Florida

An Illinois man and his uncle from Florida have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the stabbing and killing of a man in Florida.
Suspects and charges
Reynaldo Paredes, 53 from Palm Beach County, Florida, and his 24-year-old nephew, Yoel Lazaro Paredes from Freeport, Illinois, are facing first-degree premeditated murder charges following the death of 49-year-old Jorge Mobilla Menendez of West Palm Beach, Florida.
Incident Details
The two suspects were allegedly seen leaving a Mexican sports bar in West Palm Beach just after midnight on April 3, 2022, with the victim. Later that morning, a Spanish-speaking 911 caller reported finding Menendez's body in a dumpster near a senior community.
Surveillance footage obtained by the police reportedly shows the two suspects outside the bar with the victim. Responding officers discovered Menendez stabbed to death at the scene.
Case Developments
Yoel Paredes reportedly relocated to the Chicago area after the murder and was arrested Tuesday morning in Freeport. Reynaldo Paredes was apprehended at his Palm Beach County home the same morning. Reynaldo Paredes is currently being held without bond at the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Main Detention Center, facing a premeditated first-degree murder charge. Yoel Paredes is being held in the Stephenson County Jail in Freeport.
Authorities' Statement
"Menendez died a very brutal death and then was dumped in a dumpster," stated West Palm Beach police spokesman Mike Jachles in an interview with local WPBF-TV. "He was stabbed multiple times." The case continues to unfold as law enforcement gathers evidence and builds their case against the two suspects.
