As graduates from Hempstead and Uniondale high schools were leaving the sports complex accompanied by their families, they were ambushed by five masked men. The attackers targeted two individuals, slashing one in the ear and another in the leg, causing serious injuries.

Victims' Identities and Condition

According to a statement issued on behalf of the schools, the person slashed in the leg was identified as a guest of a student. When a student attempted to intervene, they were also slashed in the ear. Both victims were promptly transported to a nearby hospital, although their current medical conditions remain undisclosed.

Law Enforcement Response

The Nassau County police swiftly responded to the distress call at 4:20 p.m., but as of now, it remains unclear whether any suspects have been apprehended in connection with the attack. The school's statement indicated that the assault appeared to stem from a domestic dispute and reassured that the security team is collaborating closely with the Nassau County Police and Hofstra Public safety officers.
