Ukraine Conducts Long-Range Drone Attacks Inside Russia, Targets Radar Stations
Ukraine launched drone attacks in Russia, targeting radar stations, including a 1,100-mile strike. Officials seek US approval for stronger weapons.

In the last few days, Ukraine has carried out a series of drone attacks in Russia, including one of the longest-range strikes of the war. The targets were radar stations used, at least partly, as early nuclear warning systems by Moscow.
Long-Range Strike
On Monday, Ukraine conducted a strike on a radar station near the border with Kazakhstan, which was more than 1,100 miles away, according to a Ukrainian intelligence official. The facility was reportedly utilized to detect missile threats from Asia.
Downing of Ukrainian Drone
On Tuesday morning, the governor of the Krasnodar region of Russia announced that a Ukrainian drone was shot down over the town of Armavir, home to two radar stations. No new strikes were reported by Ukraine on that day.
Weapons Appeal to the United States
Ukraine has used its own drones and missiles for these strikes. Meanwhile, officials in Kyiv have been urgently appealing to the United States for permission to use powerful American-made weapons in Russia. The Biden administration has been hesitant, fearing the risk of being pulled into a broader war, although there are indications that this position may soon be revised.
