Ukraine Drone Strike on Russian Airfield Targets Fuel and Bomb Storage, Says Security Source

In a recent development, Ukraine has launched a drone attack on Russia's Marinovka military airfield in the southern Russian region of Volgograd, as reported by a security source in Kyiv.

The Russian governor of the Volgograd region, Andrei Bocharov, confirmed that a fire had erupted at the military facility following the Ukrainian drone's impact. However, he stated that there were no casualties reported as a result of the incident.

Ukrainian Campaign of Drone Strikes

The security source further revealed that the attack on the Marinovka airfield forms part of a wider campaign of Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian airfields. These airfields are reportedly used by Russian warplanes to launch regular attacks on targets within Ukraine.

Concerns Over Russian Military Tactics

In addition to the drone strikes, Ukraine has expressed specific concerns about Russia's deployment of low-cost glide bombs, which are fired by warplanes. Despite the recent acquisition of a small contingent of U.S.-manufactured F-16 fighter jets, the Ukrainian air force continues to face significant challenges, being outmatched by Russia's substantially larger and more heavily armed fleet of warplanes.

The security source disclosed that the drone attack was executed as a joint operation, with the Security Service of Ukraine and the country's special forces collaborating to carry out the mission.
