Ukrainian FPV Drones Target Rare Russian 'Terminator' Tank and Weapons Warehouse in South Ukraine
Ukrainian FPV drone operators conducted an attack on a warehouse full of Russian weaponry, showcasing a rare Russian 'Terminator' tank being destroyed. The operation resulted in the destruction of two T-72 tanks, an infantry fighting vehicle, and military trucks.
Discovery of Russian Weapons Warehouse
A new video has emerged showing Ukrainian FPV drone operators targeting a large concentration of Russian hardware after locating a warehouse in the southern region of Ukraine. The attack drones successfully infiltrated the hangar, which was packed with valuable assets from Russia's military arsenal, and proceeded to eliminate the weaponry.
Verification and Identity of the Operators
The timing and location of the video remain unclear, and independent verification is yet to be obtained. The logo visible at the bottom right of the footage is attributed to the Wild Hornets, a volunteer group specializing in the production of FPV kamikaze strike drones. Notably, the Wild Hornets have provided the Ukrainian military with 3500 7-10 inch FPV drones on a voluntary basis and continue to manufacture Kamikaze, Bomber, and Scout drones to support Ukrainian forces.
Targeted Equipment and Damage
The focal point of the attack was the rare Russian BMPT "Terminator" tank, renowned for its formidable capabilities on the battlefield. This 53-ton, 23-foot-long armored vehicle is equipped with twin 30 mm guns, four high-speed Ataka anti-tank missiles with a range of nearly four miles, two AG-17D grenade launchers, and a coaxial 7.62 mm PKTM machine gun. It is believed that the Russian army possessed only 10 of these vehicles at the onset of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
In addition to the Terminator tank, the Ukrainian drones targeted and destroyed other Russian assets within the warehouse, including a BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle, two T-72 tanks, and military trucks and vehicles.
Impact on Russian Military Arsenal
The destruction of these assets represents a significant blow to the Russian military, which has already suffered substantial losses in armored vehicles since the commencement of the invasion of Ukraine. Reports from the UK Defense Ministry in January indicated that Russia had lost 2,600 main battle tanks and 4,900 other armored vehicles during the conflict.
The successful operation carried out by Ukrainian FPV drone operators demonstrates their ability to target and destroy valuable Russian weaponry, including the rare and powerful 'Terminator' tank. This event underscores the ongoing technological and strategic developments in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, as well as the crucial role played by volunteer groups in supporting the Ukrainian military.
