Unionized Apple Store Workers Ratify Labor Contract, Securing Raises and Benefits for Employees

New Labor Contract Ratified by Unionized Apple Store Workers Apple Store Workers Reach Agreement Workers at the first unionized Apple Store in the U.S. successfully ratified a labor contract with Apple Inc. on Tuesday. 

How did the workers reach an agreement with Apple?

This achievement comes after a year and a half of negotiations, which saw prolonged periods of stalled bargaining and unsuccessful union campaigns at other stores. The union confirmed the outcome, and Apple expressed its satisfaction with the agreement. The contract pertains to approximately 85 workers at a Towson, Maryland store who voted to join the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers in June 2022. Significant Benefits and Raises Under the new contract, the typical employee will receive a raise of around 10 percent over the next three years. Additionally, these workers will now have access to the same benefits as their counterparts in non-union stores. This was a point of contention following the introduction of new benefits that excluded unionized stores in the fall of 2022. Furthermore, the contract guarantees severance pay for the workers.
