On the fateful night of June 20, around 11:10 p.m., a man and his family were enjoying their time at Cougar Park, located at 10664 Socorro Road, when they were caught in the crossfire of a reckless confrontation between the occupants of two vehicles. According to reports, the park had a considerable number of visitors at the time, creating a chaotic scene as Socorro police responded to the shooting call.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the individuals in both vehicles were firing handguns, resulting in the man sustaining injuries during the altercation. The two vehicles involved were identified as a gray Dodge Charger and a maroon-colored Nissan sedan. Security camera footage captured images of the vehicles, which were last observed fleeing west toward El Paso, making their way beyond the park's vicinity.
