Venezuelan opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez flees to Spain

The recent revelation that Edmundo González, the opposition candidate from Venezuela, departed the nation on a Spanish Air Force plane this past weekend has sent shockwaves throughout the country and beyond. This development is particularly remarkable considering the political climate over the last year, marred by months of political repression and a highly disputed presidential election. Following the election, the authoritarian government led by President Nicolás Maduro executed a ruthless crackdown on dissent.
