Venezuelan Violinist Shines at World Orchestra Week Festival in New York City
Venezuelan violinist Miranda Marín and National Children’s Symphony members celebrated World Orchestra Week in New York, engaging in music and sightseeing activities.
During an unforgettable experience in New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty came into view as 12-year-old violinist Miranda Marín couldn't contain her excitement, capturing the moment with a series of photographs. Alongside over 160 peers from the National Children’s Symphony of Venezuela, the group had traveled to New York to participate in a weeklong festival culminating at Carnegie Hall, known as World Orchestra Week.
The International Gathering
World Orchestra Week brought together 700 student musicians from 38 nations, such as China, Nigeria, Germany, Afghanistan, Israel, Ukraine, and the United States. Beyond rehearsals of classical and folk music, the young talents explored the city, indulging in pizza, ice cream, and dance parties.
The Venezuelan students enjoyed a Circle Line cruise, complete with a lively card game session, while their Afghan counterparts visited the Juilliard School, the United Nations, and the top of the Rockefeller Center. This cultural exchange provided a unique opportunity for the young musicians to bond and learn from one another, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
The visit to the Statue of Liberty and the subsequent festival at Carnegie Hall marked a significant moment in the lives of these talented young musicians, showcasing the unifying power of music and cultural exchange. This experience will undoubtedly shape their growth as musicians and individuals, fostering a deep appreciation for diversity and a shared passion for the arts.
