Vice President Harris Expected to Concede 2024 Election to President-elect Donald Trump Wednesday
Vice President Harris is set to concede the 2024 presidential race to President-elect Donald Trump, with both leaders planning public addresses.

Vice President Kamala Harris is set to concede the 2024 presidential race to President-elect Donald Trump on a date yet to be confirmed, with plans to call him to formally acknowledge Trump’s victory, as informed by two aides close to Harris. The Vice President is also expected to speak publicly later in the day at Howard University, although the precise timing of her address has not been disclosed as she is currently engaged in crafting her speech, as per one aide’s information.
On the same day, President Joe Biden is likewise slated to reach out to Trump and express his acknowledgment of the election results publicly, as per a White House official's statement. In a stark contrast to Trump’s approach upon Biden’s victory in 2020, Biden's response is anticipated to encompass a call of congratulations to Trump, an invitation for him to the White House, and an offer to partake in his inauguration, as indicated by the same official.
Harris, who is 60 years old, embarked on her presidential campaign following the withdrawal of President Joe Biden, aged 81, from the race on July 21. Biden’s withdrawal came in the wake of a dismal performance in the June presidential debate against Trump, which raised concerns among key party members about Biden's age, capabilities to win in the general election, and his capacity to serve another four years in the White House.
Polls Indicate Close Race
Polls had indicated a neck-and-neck race in recent weeks, with Harris encountering a gender gap, particularly among male voters, who predominantly favored Trump. NBC News’ Exit Poll revealed that 54% of male voters opted for the former president, while 44% cast their votes for Harris. Throughout the campaign, the Vice President consistently identified herself as the "underdog" in the 2024 contest, grappling with the challenge of distancing herself from Biden and his administration while endeavoring to present herself as a candidate representing change.
The 2024 presidential race has been a pivotal event, culminating in a significant political transition. As Harris prepares to concede, the event marks a crucial moment in the electoral process, highlighting the competitive nature of the race and the dynamics at play between the candidates. The acknowledgment of Trump's victory by Harris and Biden signifies the culmination of a closely contested electoral battle.
