Whitmer's Absence Raises Questions as Biden Holds Detroit Rally
President Biden arrived in Michigan for a rally, joined by Democrats and union leaders. Governor Whitmer, absent, expressed support remotely.

On Friday, July 12, President Biden arrived in Michigan to participate in a campaign rally in Detroit, where he was enthusiastically greeted by House Democrats, state lawmakers, union leaders, and the renowned actress Octavia Spencer. Notably absent, however, were numerous prominent Michigan Democrats, including Governor Gretchen Whitmer, whose immense popularity in the battleground state has positioned her as a leading figure in discussions about potential alternative candidates should President Biden decide not to seek re-election.
Missed Presence of Governor Whitmer
It was reported by Crain’s Detroit Business on Wednesday that Governor Whitmer had a prior commitment to attend the Sun Valley Conference, which brings together tech and media executives in Idaho. Shortly after President Biden's arrival, Governor Whitmer expressed her unwavering support by stating, “Motor City is all in for Biden-Harris.”
