
Wise High School Memorial Ends in Tragedy with Two Shot After Vigil
After a memorial for three high school football teammates who died in a car crash, two people were shot at Wise High School, resulting in one fatality.

On July 13, 2024, tragedy struck again at Wise High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, as two individuals were shot following a memorial for the victims of a fatal car crash. The memorial was held for Vikings cornerback Khyree Jackson, AJ Lytton Jr., and Isaiah Hazel, who tragically lost their lives in a car accident just a week prior.
According to reports from Fox 5 in Washington D.C., the shooting took place in the school's parking lot after the conclusion of the memorial. A man was shot in the chest and despite efforts at the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. Additionally, a woman was also injured after being shot in the leg and was subsequently taken to a local hospital for medical attention. Both victims were in their 20s.
Police Response
Law enforcement confirmed that at least one firearm was recovered from the scene as they initiated an investigation into the shooting incident.
