Woman Arrested After Stealing Amish Horse and Buggy from Michigan Family Outside Walmart

A Michigan family experienced an unusual crime when their Amish horse and buggy were stolen from a Walmart parking lot over the weekend. According to the Sturgis Department of Public Safety, the family discovered the theft around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, prompting a truck driver in the parking lot to report witnessing a woman taking the buggy.
Arrest and Recovery
Law enforcement officers learned that they had previously encountered the woman at the same Walmart earlier that day. Hours later, a police officer located the stolen buggy and horse in close proximity, leading to the arrest of a 31-year-old woman at a nearby motel. She was taken into custody on suspicion of larceny and larceny of livestock, and subsequently booked into the St. Joseph County Jail. Fortunately, the horse was unharmed and the buggy was returned to its rightful owners. The authorities have not disclosed a motive for the theft.
