Woman dies in Georgetown house fire, multiple fire departments respond to the scene

A devastating fire engulfed a residential property in Georgetown, resulting in the loss of a woman's life. The incident occurred at 238 East Main St. around 10:49 p.m. on Saturday night, prompting the immediate response of fire crews.

Intense Flames Engulf Residence

Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters were met with a harrowing sight as fierce flames soared approximately 20 feet high from the roof of the single-family home. Despite their valiant efforts, the fire rapidly consumed the property, ultimately leading to a tragic outcome.

Rescue Efforts and Fatal Outcome

While four individuals were present in the residence when the fire erupted, three managed to evacuate safely. Tragically, it was reported that a woman remained trapped on the second floor. Despite being swiftly transported to Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport, she was later pronounced deceased.

Regrettably, the home suffered extensive damage and was declared a total loss. As a result, all occupants were displaced, adding further distress to the already devastating situation.
