Young Dancers Break World Record for Dancing on Pointe in New York's Plaza Hotel

Hundreds of young dancers gathered at New York's Plaza Hotel to break the world record for dancing on pointe in one place. The event, organized by Youth America Grand Prix, marked the program's 25th anniversary celebration. The dancers, aged 9 to 19, competed for scholarships, alongside professional dancers who are program alums.

Setting a New Guinness World Record

The dancers, adorned in white tutus, performed to Tchaikovsky music, executing the bourrée step for a full minute. With adjudicator Tina Shi announcing the results, the count of 353 set a new Guinness world record, surpassing the previous record of 306 ballerinas on pointe en masse.

Legacy of Youth America Grand Prix

The New York-based Youth America Grand Prix has been operating the world's largest student ballet scholarship competition since 1999. In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the program organized three nights of performances at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, showcasing the talent and dedication of young dancers from around the world.
