YouTuber Ruby Franke Admits to Child Abuse Charges

A mother of six from Utah has pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated child abuse. She was initially facing six charges, but two were dropped as part of her plea deal. The woman, Ruby Franke, admitted her guilt in a virtual court appearance. The judge accepted the plea agreement and set the sentencing for a later date. Franke's attorneys claimed that she was influenced by a relationship counselor, leading her to a "distorted sense of morality." The alleged abuse was said to have occurred while she was isolated from her family and influenced by the counselor. Franke and another individual were arrested after Franke's 12-year-old son escaped and asked a neighbor to call the police. The boy was found with duct tape around his wrists and ankles, and he was emaciated. Franke's 10-year-old daughter was also found at the same location. Franke's four youngest children were taken into state custody. Franke's attorneys stated that she has been introspective during her incarceration and is committed to taking responsibility for her actions. The 12-year-old boy revealed that another person was involved in the abuse, and this individual has also been charged. The woman's YouTube channel, "8 Passengers," faced criticism for various parenting decisions. Franke's family members released videos explaining their separation from her and their efforts to connect with her children.
