Authorities reported the escape of a prisoner serving a life sentence in a Texas correctional facility. The individual, Robert Yancy Jr., fled with the assistance of his mother, who provided him with a change of clothes. Yancy was promptly apprehended after being recognized by civilians at a park. The convict had been serving a life sentence for a prior conviction of child sexual abuse. Following his escape, law enforcement also detained two individuals suspected of aiding Yancy. The prisoner's mother, Leonor Priestle, now faces charges related to facilitating an escape, along with another individual named Russell Williams. Yancy, in addition to facing felony escape charges, attempted to leave the prison in a white 2021 Nissan Versa. The Brazoria County Pct. 4 Constable Office expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts that led to the swift recapture of the escaped prisoner.
