Russian Court Detains Accomplice in Moscow Concert Hall Attack
A Tajikistan citizen is detained for alleged involvement in the Moscow concert hall attack, where 144 people were killed. Multiple suspects are under custody.

On March, 144 people lost their lives in a tragic terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue in Moscow. The attack, carried out by four gunmen, also resulted in hundreds of injuries and the partial collapse of the building's roof, as the attackers set the concert hall on fire. Eyewitnesses described the chaos and panic as the gunmen fired into the crowd, causing many to be trampled in the ensuing stampede.
Since the attack, there have been significant developments in the case. A total of twelve defendants, including the four gunmen, have been arrested. Dzhumokhon Kurbonov, a Tajikistan citizen, has been detained as an accomplice for allegedly providing the attackers with means of communication and financing. The Basmanny District Court in Moscow ruled that Kurbonov would be kept in custody until May 22, pending investigation and trial.
Furthermore, it was noted that Kurbonov was initially detained on April 11 for 15 days on the charge of petty hooliganism, a common practice used by Russian security forces to hold a person in custody while a criminal case is being prepared.
Allegations and Controversies
Despite a faction of the Islamic State group claiming responsibility for the massacre, Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, have suggested the involvement of Ukraine and the West without presenting evidence. However, Ukrainian officials deny any involvement and accuse Moscow of using these allegations as a pretext to escalate the conflict in Ukraine.
The four gunmen appeared in court on terrorism charges at the end of March, showing signs of severe beatings, with one of them barely conscious during the hearing. All four have also been identified as citizens of Tajikistan and have been ordered to be held in custody until May 22.
The detention and arrest of the suspects, combined with the ongoing investigation, underscore the gravity of the situation and the determination of the authorities to bring justice to the victims and their families.
