On March 18th, armed thieves carried out a brazen robbery, attacking a security guard and stealing cash from video machine collection boxes in broad daylight. The incident occurred just after noon outside a laundromat in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Escape and Discarded Evidence
After the robbery, the suspects managed to escape in a van, abandoning a number of empty cash boxes and cases along roadways outside Chambersburg. The Chambersburg Police Lt. Matt Bietsch revealed these details and highlighted the audacity of the crime.
Details of the Robbery
The police did not disclose the exact amount of cash stolen, but it was reported that the thieves targeted the cash boxes collected from video machines. The collection van had already made pickups elsewhere before stopping at the laundromat for another collection.
During the robbery, a smaller white van parked next to the collection van, from which three armed suspects emerged. One of the suspects assaulted the security guard, seized the guard’s firearm, and then proceeded to steal the cash collection boxes before fleeing the scene in their van.
Police Action
Following the robbery, the police released photos of the armed, masked, and hooded suspects, as well as an image of their white van with a Pennsylvania license plate ZGY4417.
The investigation into this daring daylight robbery is ongoing, and the authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
