SpaceX Delays Historic Polaris Dawn Launch Again Due to Unfavorable Splashdown Weather

The forthcoming launch of four civilians on a privately chartered spaceflight with the first commercial spacewalk has been delayed due to predicted adverse weather conditions at the splashdown site, as announced by SpaceX. 

Delay Due to Weather Conditions

SpaceX stated that the Polaris Dawn launch is postponed until at least Friday, weather permitting. Mission commander Jared Isaacman emphasized the need to ensure suitable reentry weather before launching the mission due to the absence of space station rendezvous and limited life support consumables. The launch was already delayed by two days due to ground launch processing issues, initially targeted for 3:38 a.m. EDT Wednesday. However, with unfavorable weather conditions, another delay was ordered, and the launch was originally planned for Monday.

Due to the critical objectives of the Polaris Dawn mission, mission commander Isaacman stated the importance of ensuring weather conditions before launching.
