UCLA Faculty Join Pro-Palestinian Protesters
Faculty at UCLA supported pro-Palestinian students, joining them in a campus protest and getting arrested during a police crackdown.
This week, faculty members at the University of California, Los Angeles, demonstrated unwavering support for students engaged in pro-Palestinian protests. After an urgent call from the students expressing their sense of insecurity, Graeme Blair, an associate professor of political science, revealed that several faculty activists promptly offered assistance.
Following the call, dozens of faculty members volunteered to stand alongside the students, maintaining a continuous presence at their encampment on campus. This display of solidarity symbolized a united front to address the students' concerns and support their cause.
During the early hours of Thursday morning, when the police intervened in the protests, faculty members formed a human chain with the students, demonstrating their commitment by allowing themselves to be arrested. This act underscored their dedication to standing in solidarity with the students in pursuit of shared goals.
