Aaron Rodgers' Comeback Sparks Excitement for New York Jets on 'Monday Night Football' Opener
Aaron Rodgers' comeback for the NFL's opener against the New York Jets looks promising, as he impresses with his rehab progress.

The New York Jets' 40-year-old quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, is on track to start the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers on September 8. Rodgers, who suffered a torn Achilles, has been making significant progress during the organized team activities (OTAs) portion of the offseason schedule.
New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh expressed confidence in Rodgers' recovery, stating, "For him to push the envelope and continue his rehab, he has no restrictions, and he looks good man. The arm talent is still there, but it's really just reacclimating to everything, and we're trying a bunch of new stuff, too. Just trying to evolve within the offense."
Full Participation in Practice
When asked about Rodgers' level of participation in practice, Saleh confirmed, "He is doing everything." Rodgers demonstrated his readiness during practice by completing eight of his 10 throws in 11-on-11 drills, which included two touchdown passes. Additionally, he connected on all five of his passes in 7-on-7 work.
Rodgers expressed his confidence, stating, "I feel like I can do anything. I can run at top speed. It's just in those moments, the reactions coming naturally." Jets defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich endorsed Rodgers' performance, commenting, "I don't see a loss of velocity on the ball, I don't see a lack of movement. It's amazing. He's found some source of the fountain of youth. He's got something figured out."
Anticipated Challenge Against San Francisco 49ers
Rodgers' impressive performance in practice will be crucial as he prepares to face a formidable San Francisco 49ers pass rush in Week 1. The 49ers' defensive lineup includes 2022 NFL Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa, Pro Bowl defensive tackle Javon Hargrave, and veteran edge rusher Leonard Floyd, who previously caused Rodgers' injury during the "Monday Night Football" season opener in 2023.
