Cam Newton Declares Lamar Jackson as NFL's Greatest Dual-Threat Quarterback
Cam Newton praises Lamar Jackson's speed and play style, naming him the best NFL dual threat. Newton acknowledges Jackson’s running prowess.

In recent years, the NFL has seen the emergence of quarterbacks who are not only skilled passers but also dangerous runners. One of the names that often comes up in discussions about the greatest dual-threat quarterbacks in NFL history is Cam Newton.
However, in a recent podcast, Cam Newton himself declined to place himself at the top of that list. Instead, he bestowed that honor upon the current NFL reigning MVP, Lamar Jackson. Newton expressed his admiration for Jackson's playing style, emphasizing the electrifying speed and big-play ability that set Jackson apart from himself and other quarterbacks.
Newton acknowledged that while he played the game more powerfully, with a unique ability to run effectively, he recognized that Jackson possessed an exceptional speed that he himself never had. Newton also highlighted the fact that Jackson and other quarterbacks like Michael Vick had an uncanny ability to evade being caught, which set them apart in terms of running capabilities.
Statistical Comparison
While Jackson's speed and agility are undeniable, it's worth noting that Newton's career as a runner was remarkably productive. Newton holds the record for the most career rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in NFL history, with an impressive 75 touchdowns, which is 22 more than the next closest quarterback, Josh Allen.
On the other hand, Jackson's 29 touchdown runs are notable, tying him with other quarterbacks for the 20th-most among quarterbacks. Despite this, Newton's record-breaking 14 touchdowns in his rookie season remained untouched until recent years, when Josh Allen and Jalen Hurts both achieved 15 touchdown runs in a single season.
