The Taiwan Coast Guard, along with nearby ships, is actively involved in efforts to establish radio contact with an abandoned Tanzanian cargo ship, which is currently listing and in distress approximately 15 miles off the southern port of Kaohsiung. The vessel, with a crew of nine from Myanmar, is the focus of a major air-sea search and rescue operation. Transportation Minister Li Meng-yen emphasized the necessity for "maximum humanitarian rescue efforts through all possible means."
