On the evening of April 8th, a remarkable incident took place in Las Cruces, New Mexico, resulting in the arrest of 24-year-old Elijah Jason Paul De Armond. The individual was found completely naked and causing a disturbance in a residential area, leading to a series of alarming events.
Arrival at the Scene
According to court documents, De Armond approached a home in the 900 block of Gilmer Way, completely nude, and began aggressively banging on the front door. When the homeowner instructed him to leave, the situation escalated as De Armond proceeded to remove a light fixture from the property and subsequently shattered the front glass door with a rock.
Confrontation with Law Enforcement
Upon the arrival of the Las Cruces police officers at the scene, the situation continued to unfold dramatically. De Armond attempted to evade the officers, resulting in a physical altercation. It was reported that he ran towards a patrol vehicle, where an officer had to intervene and issue commands for him to surrender. Despite the instructions, De Armond purportedly resisted arrest by grabbing onto the officer's vest and injuring another officer's hand in the process.
Legal Consequences
As a consequence of his actions, De Armond faces serious legal charges. These include two counts of battery upon a peace officer, indecent exposure, criminal damage to property exceeding $1,000, and resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer. After the incident, he was taken into custody and booked into the Doña Ana County Detention Facility.
