Steelers re-sign Terrell Edmunds: Veteran safety returns to bolster secondary
Terrell Edmunds returns to the Steelers after a successful season, reuniting with Minkah Fitzpatrick and DeShon Elliott in the secondary.

A familiar face is returning to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team has re-signed veteran safety and former first-round pick Terrell Edmunds after their season-opening win against the Atlanta Falcons according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Edmunds had been on the Jaguars' practice squad and started the 2023 season with the Eagles before being traded to Tennessee before the NFL's trade deadline. He finished the season with 48 tackles, 2.5 sacks, one interception, and a forced fumble.
Edmunds' Previous Stint with the Steelers
Edmunds played as the Steelers' starting strong safety from 2018-21, where he recorded five interceptions, 26 passes defensed, 410 tackles, and five sacks. He was an essential part of the team's defensive unit, complementing free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, and helping the Steelers make the playoffs during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Although he never became a star, Edmunds developed into a quality starter and an integral part of the team's success.
Edmunds expressed his continued love for the game despite the ups and downs he has faced throughout his career. He joins a Steelers secondary that features Fitzpatrick and fellow starting safety DeShon Elliott, who recorded one of the team's two picks of Kirk Cousins during Sunday's win over Atlanta. With his return, the Steelers bolster their secondary with the addition of a experienced and proven player.
