
Teen Driver Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run of Bicyclist
Three teens were charged in the hit-and-run death of a cyclist, with video evidence showing intentional actions and premeditation.

New Mexico police have arrested two teens and are looking for a third in connection with a deadly hit-and-run of a bicyclist that happened in May 2024. The incident was captured on video from inside a stolen car and circulated on social media.
New Mexico teens, 13 and 15, charged with murder
The 13-year-old and 15-year-old have been charged with an open count of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, leaving the scene of an accident involving great bodily harm or death, and unlawful possession of a handgun by a person under the age of 18. The 11-year-old, who is too young to be charged with murder, was taken into custody.
This tragic incident has shattered the life of the victim, Scott Dwight Habermehl, a 63-year-old physicist who was riding his bicycle to work at Sandia National Laboratories.
