The United States Capitol Police announced that a small bag containing a white powdery substance, later identified as cocaine, was found in a heavily trafficked hallway of its headquarters in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, May 15. The discovery was made around 1 p.m. on the second floor of the USCP headquarters, an area primarily used for storing furniture and supplies.
An officer noticed the small bag in the middle of the hallway and promptly reported it to a supervisor. The USCP has since launched an investigation into the matter, including further testing of the substance and DNA analysis of the bag. The hallway where the cocaine was found is frequented by contractors and employees and is located near various key offices, including the Prisoner Processing, Crime Scene, Intel, and Reports Processing offices.

While the USCP did not provide immediate comments to inquiries, the agency assured that they are taking the discovery seriously and are actively pursuing the investigation.
