88-Year-Old Montana Man Sentenced to Two Years in Prison for Bank Robberies
88-year-old man sentenced to 2 years in prison for two bank robberies in Montana, involving a co-defendant and a combined $15,000 theft.

An 88-year-old man from Billings, Montana, has been sentenced to two years in prison for his involvement in two bank robberies that occurred in August 2023. U.S. District Judge Susan Watters handed down the sentence, which will be followed by three years of supervised release. In addition, the court has ordered the man to pay $3,092 in restitution.
First Robbery
Court documents revealed that on August 24, 2023, the man's co-defendant, Patrick Justice, 26, entered a U.S. Bank and handed a note to a teller, demanding money. The teller complied, and Justice fled the scene in a green Ford Taurus.
Four days after the first robbery, Justice entered a Wells Fargo bank and once again presented a note to a teller, demanding money. During the incident, he indicated to the teller that he was armed. The teller handed over the money, and as police arrived at the scene, they observed Justice getting into the green Ford Taurus. Following a pursuit, law enforcement officers stopped the vehicle and apprehended Justice along with the 88-year-old man, who was driving at the time.
Previous Conviction
The court heard that the man, who had previously been convicted of bank robbery in 2008, admitted to suggesting the idea of robbing banks to make money to his co-defendant. He also confessed to selecting the banks to target and acted as the getaway driver. The total amount stolen in both robberies was reported to be $15,000.
In February, the 88-year-old man pleaded guilty to his involvement in the robberies. As a result, he has been sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to report to the U.S. Marshals Service pending designation to a Bureau of Prisons medical facility.
